Counting the Rafts: The Poetry of Jack Hibberd

Although he is highly regarded as one of Australia's foremost playwrights, Jack Hibberd's career as a poet has received scant attention. Recorded on the eve of his 70th birthday, this program is a celebration of his poetic output from the 1960s until the present day.

Suburbia

As Australian cities have grown, so has the reflection of the suburban environment in Australian poetry. The attitude of the poets varies; from distaste in the case of AD Hope and Gwen Harwood, to the ironic appreciation of John Tranter and Cath Kenneally and a deep affection for suburbia shown by Aidan Coleman, John Griffin and Bruce Dawe.
