Education in the election
21/07/2010
One of the few spending promises in this campaign is a new program of National Trade Cadetships (NTC) for secondary school students. Announced by the PM yesterday, the scheme is worth $3 million over two years and would start in 2012. It's hardly a big splash, especially compared to the $16 billion Building the Education Revolution (BER) school upgrades program. That stimulus spending is one reason why this election will see a modest campaign. Education minister Simon Crean is in charge of both the NTC and the BER.
